How long will it take to frame my art?
We generally schedule work to be completed in about 2 weeks. However, we keep a good variety of frame mouldings and materials in stock, and can provide faster service using these materials. We will always do all we can to help you meet specific deadlines. Just let us know what you need.
How much will my frame cost?
Custom framing prices depend on the specific components you choose for your frame. There are thousands of possible combinations for even the simplest design. Your price is determined by the combination you choose. Frames on 3rd’s pricing is significantly lower than other custom frame shops (even franchises!).
What can I frame?
We can frame virtually anything (and we have). Prints, photos, canvasses, collage and three-dimensional art and memorabilia can be framed individually, or grouped in one frame.
We can stretch canvas or previously stretched paintings onto stretcher bars.
We create shadow boxes for objects and textiles of any size. We have framed an electric guitar, a 4' x 6' carpet, and a set of apartheid document pendants, among other things. If you have objects you'd like to preserve and get on the wall, let us know. We can do it. Get your memories out of the drawer and on display!
What size can my artwork be?
Our shop can accommodate very large sizes. If over 8 feet on any side, please call for consultation. Our smallest frames are about 4 inches on a side.
Does Frames on 3rd do repair and restoration work?
Yes. We do touch-ups and repairs to frames and artwork in our shop, and have excellent connections with the bay area’s most respected art restorers for more extensive work. There is no charge to inspect a repair project, but restorations usually require a fee from the restorer for an estimate, as detailed testing is required. Estimates for repair and restoration work require a physical inspection. Unfortunately these estimates are not possible over the phone.
Can I buy components without purchasing a complete frame?
Yes. You may purchase frames, glass, Plexiglas, hanging materials, mats, and more from us individually, as our stock allows. You may also bring in just a frame, or a mat, or other components, and we will complete the frame for you. If you have parts of older frames you like, recycle them into a new frame with our help.
Is there parking?
We have a corner location, which allows a quick park for pick-ups. The neighborhood street parking varies, but a close-by space can usually be found.
